A novel told in letters, reconsidered

The epistolary form still works when the letters are allowed to be dull sometimes.

Novels in letters often fail because every letter is a performance. The one I read this spring lets its characters write about the weather and the price of coal, and the important letters land harder for it.

Who it is for: patient readers who like to assemble the story themselves.
