Five short books for a long flight

Under 200 pages each, and none of them feels thin.

Long flights are bad for long novels: too many interruptions, too much light from the next seat. Short books survive them.

  1. A novella about a lighthouse keeper's last winter
  2. An essay collection on walking in cities
  3. A slim detective story set on a night train
  4. A memoir of learning a language late in life
  5. A book of very short science essays

All five fit in a coat pocket, which matters more than it should.
